Mark11:1-7 Jesus was about to enter into Jerusalem when he sent his disciples to go and untie a colt (donkey) for him to ride on. He told the disciples what to say if anybody confronted them, and the disciples were actually confronted, so they said what Jesus told them to say, and the colt was released to them, and they took it too Jesus.
Mark11:8 So as Jesus embarked on his journey int Jerusalem people lay their clothes on the ground and others cut down branches of trees and lay on the ground for Jesus to tread upon as he triumphantly entered into Jerusalem
Mark11:13 The next day, Jesus was walking by and he was hungry and he saw this fig tree "full of leaves". Now the fruit of the fig tree always comes right about the same time as the leaves. But when Jesus went closer to see if there was any fruit that he could get to eat he found nothing.
Now, did you notice that in Mark11:8 trees were cut down in honor of Jesus' entry? but here is this fig tree in Mark11:13 which was "covered in leaves". This simply depicts that this fig tree refused to be used as a means of service to Jesus. While leaves and branches from other trees were being cut down and used to serve, this fig tree refused to be used as a channel of service.
Genesis3:7 After Adam and Eve had eaten the fruit which God commanded them not to, they realized that they were naked, and then of all the trees and flowers in the garden, it was the FIG leaves that they used to cover their nakedness
So right from the beginning the fig tree has not been used for anything positive, so its shouldn't be a huge surprise what took place in Mark11:14
As Christians let our lives be of reasonable service to God. lets not serve or try to cover up sin like the fig tree in Gen3:7. Let everyone around us know that our lives have been dedicated to Christ and it is him alone that we serve.
Whosoever doesnt make himself available to serve God, then Mark11:14 will be fulfilled in his/her life. Somebody say God forbod.
