I went for a camp program and i was assigned a teacher. In the morning i was passing by his room on my way to the toilet when i heard him praying. His prayer went like this “Oh God bless me, bless me intently and intensively with everything you've got, Oh God bless me!!!…” I was very furious and i thought to myself is this not a selfish prayer? Just asking God to bless you.
1Chronicles 4:9-10 This talks about the prayer of Jabez and if you take a close look at the prayer of Jabez, it was a prayer for Gods blessings and at the end of the prayer the bible says “… and the LORD heard him.” The Prayer of Jabez says “Oh God, that you would bless me indeed and enlarge my coast” if this was a selfish prayer, the God wouldn't have heard him. The bible says for if we know that he has heard us then he has answered us. In other words God wouldn't have answered Jabez prayer
The bible says that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask or think ( Eph 3:20) so why not ask. the bible says my people suffer for lack of knowledge, if only people knew that God was able and willing to do more than they could ask, they wouldn’t have to suffer some of the things they suffer. Matthew7:7 “Ask and ye shall receive…” we have been permitted to ask, and there is an assurance that we will receive in Matthew7:8 “He who asketh receiveth…”
Why not make up your mind today to ask God for whatever it is that you need, because there is an assurance that he will grant your desires John14:14
