Eph 1:17-23
This is a prayer that paul prayed for the church at ephesus. If Paul could pray it for the church, we should likewise
pray it for one another. I remember that period in which this scripture first came alive to me T'was the period in which
I received some of the greatest revelations of my life. I have read a lot of Kenneth Hagin's materials
but there is only one I can point to where he said that the secret behind him having so many visions and revelations was because he always prayed this for himself. I was amazed. But I want to stress a verse here.
vs 18a The eyes of your understanding being ENLIGHTENED.
There are two greek words for the term reveal.
The first is "apukalupsis",while the other is "phortizo".
In apukalupsis, its like you are in a room and you are looking for something, but that thing is under
a veil. So apukalupsis means to remove the veil from the thing being covered.
In phortizo, you are in that same room but the thing you are looking for isnt really veiled but rather, the place where it is located
is quite dark.So phortizo means to show light in that dark area. Literally to flood with light.
Now the latter part of verse 18b is amazing. It says "and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints".
Barakatabalibobolo.
Do you know what this implies. It means Jesus has an inheritance, and whats that inheritance;ME. So Paul is praying that we should comprehend fully what Jesus has in us. This therefore means that the christian journey is not necessarily a conflict between right and wrong,or good and bad,
but rather, its a journey of self discovery i.e knowing who you are in Him, what you have in Him and where you are in Him.
